New divisive comments were made by Donald Trump, this time targeting Giannis Antetokounmpo.
During a speech at the Fiserv Forum, home of the Milwaukee Bucks, the Republican candidate chose to question the Greek identity of the famous athlete.
“Your team is very good. I would say the Greek guy is really a good player. Do you agree? And tell me. Who is more Greek? The Greek or me? I would say we are the same, right?” he remarked.
Antetokounmpo’s Profile
Trump’s comments completely ignore reality, as Giannis Antetokounmpo was born in Greece to Nigerian parents, holds Greek citizenship, speaks fluent Greek, and represents the country in the National team.
This statement comes a few days before the elections and follows a controversial rally at Madison Square Garden in New York.
There, various speakers, including comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, made racist remarks, with the latter calling Puerto Rico a “trash island.”
Despite questioning Antetokounmpo’s Greek identity, Trump acknowledged his athletic skills, calling him possibly the best player in the NBA and a good kid.
However, he quickly returned to his political agenda, stating:
“But with your help, we will defeat Kamala Harris and make America great again.”
